The Prayer Cycle is a compilation album by Jonathan Elias and a variety of vocalists, described as a set of nine adagio prayers that were influenced by Jonathan Elias’ personal views about the future of humankind and the power of prayer across cultures.

Recorded throughout 1998 and released on March 23, 1999 by Sony Classical, Alanis’s vocals are featured on four of the album’s nine tracks – Mercy, Hope, Innocence and Faith. While technically not released as a single, Mercy was subsequently included on Alanis’s eventual compilation album, The Collection.
