Today is a very special day, as Alanis Morissette is celebrating her forty-seventh birthday! Be sure to drop her social media pages to wish her a happy birthday!

Writing on her official website, Alanis says:

today is mental health action day… i’m sharing a song entitled “rest” written specifically about those of us who struggle with depression and anxiety, isolation, suicidal ideation and the profound despair that mental illness can plunge us into. go to mentalhealthishealth.us to learn how you can help support yourself and others today & every day.

EP 89 – Alanis Morissette
What a thrill today is for me. My guest is Alanis Morissette. It is no exaggeration when I say Alanis is my favorite musical artist of all time. I am so honored to get to spend this time interviewing Alanis. It is not surprising that her music resonates with me. We love talking about all the same things. We love diving deep. Exploring our inner selves, to get the best out of life for us and everyone we spend time with. Alanis and I talk about motherhood, partnership, friendship, and yes music. Alanis was kind enough to walk me through a bit of her artistic process behind “Such Pretty Forks in the Road.” We talked about everything from being on stage, to meditation, to unschooling. We covered some ground. I can’t wait to be at an Alanis Morissette concert again…and guess what, neither can she. Enjoy today’s episode.

Apologies for the delay in getting this posted – the site was being moved to a new server that took longer than I expected. Nonetheless, we’re back (and hopefully faster than before for everyone), and with it comes some more updates!

Alanis released this song on April 16, with its accompanying video coming out simultaneously. The solemn ballad is written very poignant for the times we’re currently in, reflecting on Alanis wanting to be on the road again and performing with her backing band.
